Eligibility Criteria

Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University [IFNMU]
Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University is an institute of higher medical education in Ivano Frankivsk, Ukraine.
The university is situated in Ivano city in the northwest of Ukraine and is a leading higher education establishment in the region, with a higher accreditation level. The university provides continuity of higher medical education: Junior Specialist – a Bachelor – a Medical Specialist – a Master – a postgraduate. The university history started in 1945 and is listed in the WHO Directory of Medical Schools and the US FAIMER International Medical Education Directory (IMED).
It is located in Galytska 2, 76000 Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. The university consists of 12 hospitals and clinics. It is one of the few universities designated as a “National Medical University” by the government of Ukraine. It is a member of the association of universities, the European association of universities, the World Health Organization, and other international organizations. Around 4000 foreign students attend from all over the world, including the US, Western Europe, Australia, Africa, India and parts of Asia. The university contains 48 departments. Zaporozhye State Medical University (ZSMU)
Zaporizhzhia State Medical University is the first University in Ukraine to start English medium for international students. Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, one of the oldest medical higher institutions of Ukraine, is a self-governing (autonomous) state higher educational establishment. The University became an international higher institution long ago. In 1973 the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens was opened. More than 3.5 thousand students have been trained for their further studies on the medical-biological specialties in the other higher educational establishments of Ukraine since then.
The history of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University comes back to the Women Pedagogic Courses organized in Odesa in 1903. It got a status of the Institute of the first category in 1975 Subsequently in the year 1994 the Institute was reorganized into Zaporizhzhia State Medical University of the IV (the top) level of accreditation. Now it is one of the leading Medical Universities in the system of medical education of Ukraine. It has become a training center for medical and pharmaceutical specialists for Ukraine and foreign countries. The medical university is located in the city of Zaporizhzhia, in southeastern Ukraine.

For the first time in Ukraine, the specialists of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University have successfully performed the transplantation of heart. More than 500 transplantation of liver, kidney, and pancreas have been performed. More than 20 preparations have been worked out by the scientists of the pharmaceutical school, produced and brought into medical practice in many countries abroad. There are Specialized Councils of Higher Attestation Commission for the defense of Candidate and Doctor Degrees in different specialties. 30 theses for Doctor’s degree in 23 specialties and 143 theses for the Candidate’s degree in 35 specialties were defended at the university during the last five years. 35 theses of Doctor’s degree and 137 theses for Candidate’s degree are being fulfilled at the university according to the plan of preparation of scientific and pedagogical specialists. The annual university amount of students is more than 19100 persons, which includes 5426 undergraduate students (including more than 1000 foreign students), 62 students of Preparatory Course, more than 1500 internship doctors, 50 students of Master's program, 70 students of a Ph.D. program, 70 Postgraduate doctors (Clinichna Ordynatura), around 11000 students of Faculty of Postgraduate training, 312 students of Medical College. Students of all Faculties study according to the credit-module system.

Agreements of cooperation in the area of medical education and research were signed and are fulfilled between LNMU and Jagiellonian University Medical College (Krakow, Poland), Silesian Medical University (Katowice, Poland), Lublin Medical University (Poland), Poznan Medical University (Poland), Medical University in Warsaw (Poland), Wroclaw Medical University (Poland), Medical University in Gdansk (Poland), Medical University in Bialystok (Poland), Medical University in Sofia (Bulgaria).
University departments and laboratories participate in 12 scientific programs of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health and international organizations. More than 50 research projects are carried out together with Ukrainian and foreign partners.
It is one of the oldest and biggest medical educational institutions in Ukraine. It is one of the leading medical universities of the IV level of accreditation. LNMU begins from the Medical Faculty of Lviv University, which was opened on November 16, 1784, according to the privilege of the Austrian emperor Josef II. In 2009 University celebrated its 225 anniversary. Lviv City, where the University is located is the largest city in western Ukraine.
Today Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University combines 6 faculties, medical college, 78 departments (including 48 clinical departments), 14 academic buildings, 41 affiliated hospitals, University dental medical center for more than 2000 attendances during the shift, teaching drugstore, botanical garden, CRL and Laboratory of industrial toxicology, Institute of clinical pathology, a research center for the investigation of anticancer drugs, scientific library, 8 student hostels, sanatorium, student cafes and canteens, sports, and health recovery camp “Medyk”.
There are 40 amateur groups, clubs, workshops in University. Among them, three amateur groups have a high degree of National. These National amateur groups are folk dance ensemble “Horytsvit” (Adonis), folk choir “Muses of Hippocrates”, folk ensemble “Medicus”.
There are 23 sport-public and recreation and sports clubs in the University.
Hostel
The students’ hostels are located near the main academic buildings. Students can be accommodated in 8 hostels with everything needed for studying (including internet clubs and reading rooms), everyday life (with canteens, cafes, the sewing and footwear work-shops, the barber’s and the laundry open) and rest ( gyms available)
Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU)
Higher State Educational Establishment of Ukraine “Bukovinian State Medical University” (BSMU) is one of the largest higher educational establishments in Chernivtsi. It is a fully government multi structural educational institution of the highest level of accreditation providing educational programs of different levels. BSMU is included in the general register of the WHO, Magna Charta Universitatum (Bologna, Italy), European University Association (EUA), Association of the Carpathian Region Universities.
Over the years of its existence (1944-2019), the University has trained more than 30 000 specialists including the following specialties: General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Pediatrics, Medical Psychology, Clinical Pharmacy.

Material-Technical Base
The material-technical base of the University is located in 15 buildings, and 33 municipal and regional medical establishments are used for Clinical Departments. Lecture halls, classrooms, educational-practical pharmacy, and laboratories are equipped with modern technical aids to ensure educational process and scientific work and linked up with the Internet.
Innovation pedagogical technologies are successfully applied in the educational process:
- Distance learning environment (moodle.bsmu.edu.ua) containing electronic educational-methodical materials in all the subjects taught at the University including English version as well;
- “Center of BSMU applicant training” (zno.bsmu.edu.ua) enabling school leavers to prepare for distance external independent testing on the profile subjects free of charge;
- “Electronic register of studies” (ez.bsmu.edu.ua) introduced by BSMU first among other medical universities of Ukraine.
The University organizes on-line lectures by the leading scientists both from Ukraine and abroad. There are 17 computer classes for self-education and testing students’ knowledge.
The University owns 8 hostels where all the conditions for living and learning of the students are created, as well as 2 cafes and 6 snack bars. The University Library funds number about a million volumes of educational, scientific, medical literature and fiction.
University teaching staff. The University teaching staff is unique, as real professionals work and are proficient in pedagogical skills:

The University staff includes 16 Honored Doctors of Ukraine; Honored Science Worker; Honored Educationalist; 2 Laureates of the State Prize in the field of science and technology.
Practical training. The University students go through their practical training at medical-preventive establishments and pharmacies (practical bases) in Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi regions, or at their places of residence.
In 2019 the Center of Simulation Medicine and Innovation Technologies was founded at the University, which provides learning and mastering practical skills of students, interns, and medical practitioners. The Center is equipped with up-to-date simulation devices: robots-simulators of adults and newborns, obstetrical and gynecological simulators, training devices for mastering skills of auscultation, cardio- pulmonary resuscitation, giving injections, mannequins for taking care of a newborn, etc. Robots-simulators enable to reconstruct maximum real different clinical situations and train doctor's tactics, consistency of his actions, ensure mastering skills of leadership and teamwork. Simulation training is organized based on the Center for future doctors involving standard patients and actors to simulate real situations and the creation of direct contact and communication with "real patients"..
An educational-producing chemist is established for the students of pharmaceutical faculty, where students get the opportunity to acquire knowledge and abilities, train practical skills directly at a working place under conditions close to the real ones.
Post-graduate education is implemented in 26 Departments of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Stomatological Faculties. 40 basic therapeutic and 14 pharmaceutical institutions are used for distance learning in the Internship.
Every year primary specialization in Internship is implemented on 23 basic specialties in the field of “Medicine” and 1 basic specialty in the area of “Pharmacy”. Usually, more than 700 interns study at the University.
Physicians and pharmacists are trained at advanced courses at BSMU on 30 specialties.
Students’ self-government. The organs of the students' self-government include the students' bureau of the course, students' dean's offices of every faculty, students' councils of the hostels, and the University Students' Council. The decisions of the University Students' Council are consultative.
The highest body of the Students’ Council at BSMU is the Students’ Conference of the University. 1 delegate out of 12 students is elected to take part in the Conference. The Students’ Conference approves the Status of the students’ self- government; elects the executive body – the Students’ University Council and considers the account on its activities; defines the structure, the powers, and procedure for electing Students’ Council of the University, the term of its activity.
Fundamental and clinical scientific studies are conducted at the University, educational and informational technologies are introduced. The Young Scientists’ Council and Students’ Scientific Society play an important role in the organization of scientific work.
Students’ leisure time. The students' campus consists of 8 comfortable hostels connected to the Internet with high conditions of life with reading rooms and sports gymnasia – everything necessary for studying and relaxing. For the development of creative abilities and the rest of the students, the Palace "Academichny” is functioning actively. On its basis various clubs and studios are organized: in particular, an art studio, decorative and applied arts and photo studios, the amateur ensemble of folk dance, and the song “Trembita”, drama and choreographic studios, etc. Sports clubs in volleyball, basketball, wrestling, table tennis, chess, athletics, mini-football are available for the students. Students get a real pleasure at the University summer sports and fitness camp “Health” located on the bank of the Dniester River..
Ternopil National Medical University (TNMU)
Ternopil National Medical University is run by-Ministry of Health of Ukraine is a medical university located in the city of Ternopil in Ukraine. TNMU was founded on 12 April 1957 as a Ternopil Medical Institute. On July 1, 1992, the institute was named after Ivan Horbachevsky. On December 30, 1997, it received the status of State Medical Academy, and on 17 November 2004, after reorganization, the institution became Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University. The first rector of the medical institute was Petro Ohii, and the vice-rector Arsen Martyniuk. The regional administration transferred ownership of two buildings to the institute for the use of academic and laboratory facilities, and two dormitories. University clinic facilities were located in the municipal hospital. At the same time, the Morphology Building, a dormitory, and the Regional Hospital were being built.
The institute had 19 departments, and employed 66 instructors, among them Kostiantyn Kovanov, Rostyslav-Yurii Komarovskyi, Anatolii Lokai, Ivan Sytnyk, Mykola Skakun, and Yevhen Honcharuk. The first class consisted of 210 students.
The institute steadily developed programs and facilities, but the biggest change took place after Ukraine has gained its independence in 1991 when the school started moving towards the European system of education. In 1994, the Institute received an IV level of institutional accreditation. In 1995 TSMU added the specialty of Nursing, and in 2000 Pharmacy.
As of 2016, the university offers Bachelor’s level programs in Physical rehabilitation and Nursing; Master’s level programs in Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Nursing; and Ph.D. level programs in specialties Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Biology.
According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 146/2019 from the 17th of April, 2019, I.Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University received the status of a national university.
The document states that “taking into account national and international recognition of the results of the activity of the State Higher Educational Institution ” I.Ya.Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University of the Ukrainian Ministry of Public Health”, its significant contribution to the development of national medical and pharmaceutical education and science, I resolve to give the State Higher Educational Institution “I.Ya.Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University of the Ukrainian Ministry of Public Health” the status of national and to continue naming it – ” I.Ya.Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University of the Ukrainian Ministry of Public Health”.
The teaching staff includes over 600 professors, among them 102 Doctors of Science and full professors, and 460 associate professors. The staff includes two Corresponding and one Full Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, 11 Merited Scientists of Ukraine, 3 Merited Inventors of Ukraine, 2 Merited Teachers of Ukraine, and 4 Merited Doctors of Ukraine.
Ternopil National Medical University is listed in the FAIMER (International Medical Education) directory under ECFMG and the WHO (World Health Organization) directory of Medical Universities/Schools. TSMU’s degree is recognized by WHO, US Education Department, General Medical Council of England, and in EU countries.
Since 2005 students are assessed according to the European Credit Test System (ECTS) credit-module system, which will allow the diplomas granted by the University to be converted in all countries of the European Union.
The university contains the following faculties: Medicine (6 years – MD program), Dentistry (5 years), Pharmacy (5 years), and Nursing (2–4 years). Postgraduate programs are also offered in different fields.
The theoretical departments of the faculty occupy four educational scientific institutes, which are independent structural-functional subdivisions of the University: Institute of Morphology, Institute of Biomedical Problems, Institute of Modeling, and Pathologic Processes Analyzing, and M. Skakun Institute of Pharmacology, Hygiene and Medical Biochemistry. There are 12 clinical departments, based at the city and regional medical establishments in Ternopil.
More than 2000 international students from 53 different countries are studying in Ternopil National Medical University. International summer schools have involved students from the University of South Carolina, Moscow State University, Kazakh Medical Academy, Shlyonsk Medical Academy (Poland), National Pharmaceutical University (Kharkiv). The university also offers students a chance to travel abroad for student exchange programs during summer.
Vinnytsia Medical Institute n.a. N.I. Pirogov
In 1994 the faculty of Dentistry was organized, and Vinnytsia Medical Institute was accredited as a University on Level IV, the highest level of accreditation The Institute was re-named to Vinnytsia State Pirogov Memorial Medical University. By 2000, the faculty of Pharmacy was organized. Vinnytsia Medical Institute n.a. N.I. Pirogov has been training competent doctors for 90 years. At the medical university 6250 students are trained, including 2080 foreigners. In total, about 44000 doctors, among them, 2100 specialists including more than 7500 foreign citizens from 106 foreign countries of Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America, Africa) have been trained. Vinnytsia is a city in west-central Ukraine, located on the banks of the Southern Bug.
Poltava Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy (PUMSA)
The university was founded in 1921 by the dental faculty of Kharkiv Medical Academy. In 1967, it moved to the city of Poltava and was renamed the Poltava Ukrainian Medical Stomatological (oral medicine) Academy (PUMSA). In 1994, the university received the sixth-highest accreditation level because of its low death rate during surgery and was renamed Poltava State Medical University (PSMU). As of 2004, PSMU had a level-IV accreditation. Poltava is a city located on the Vorskla River in central Ukraine.
Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU)
KNMU is one of the oldest higher educational establishments of Ukraine. Founded in 1805 as the Medical Faculty of the Kharkiv University it was later renamed as Kharkiv Medical Institute and Kharkiv State Medical University and presently it is Kharkiv National Medical University – KNMU. Kharkiv National Medical University is the best medical university in Ukraine for international students to study medicine. Historically, the University has been ranked among the top medical educational institution in Ukraine. The Degree of MBBS (MD – General Medicine, BDS – Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing) of Kharkiv National Medical University is prestigious and it is recognized all over the world.
International students may study medicine in English or Russian optionally. Practical training starts from the 3rd year and is arranged at municipal hospitals and clinics of Kharkiv city. Since 1951 the University has been training doctors for different countries of Europe, Asia, Africa. Presently more 4600 foreign citizens study at KNMU (Medical / Dentistry / Pharmacy Faculties, and PG course). More than 7,500 international students graduated from KNMU since 1951. Among the graduates of the University, there are ministers and members of parliaments in various countries, outstanding scientists and famous specialists who founded their clinics abroad. Among the University academicians, there are than 700 teachers, including 102 Doctors of Sciences and Professors, 387 Candidates of Medical Science, 32 members of academies, 17 Honored Scientists.
Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy
Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy (DSMA) was founded on September 15, 1916, based on Ekaterynoslavsky higher female courses Institute. Institute acquired the status of State Academy in 1920 and it was confirmed again to Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy (DSMA) in Ukraine in 1994 by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 224 dated 20 April 1994. At present 4500 students are studying at Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy (DSMA), among them are 700 students from 36 countries. Most of the students are from Jordan, Syria, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Palestine, China, Morocco, Lebanon, Kenya, Ghana, and others.
Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy (DSMA) conducts training of foreign nationals since 1990. In 1995 the Academy graduated the first batch of foreign physicians. For 10 years, Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy (DSMA) trained more than 1000 foreign specialists from 30 countries of the world.
